Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
Really don't understand people complaining about swearing at football. Not much of a swearer myself, don't particularly like it and never do it in front of the boy BUT when I took him for the first time this season (he was six) explained that there will be language that shouldn't be used away from the football. Good lesson to learn I think.

Did, however, have an issue with the guy behind us (in BML) that spat on his head everytime he got angry and swore. The boy loved the lads standing and singing though. Guess which ones the stewards had issue with.

Heart rending story mate. Has he got a justgiving page I can donate to?

More lies from the club. They said loads of trains go from Stratford station- funny how they kept quiet about the chance there would be other people on them.

I stayed right until the end of the Man City game to avoid the traffic.

Funny enough we were talking about kids hearing swearing at West Ham. I sometimes hear a fully grown up bloke going bonkers over a shit decision, swearing away and hollering and hooting, look around and all the kids are smiling because it's naughty and it's very rare to see a bloke acting like an excited kid. Most kids seem to love it.

We were saying how those of us lucky enough to go to football with our dad or uncle always had the same conversation as a rite of passage. 'Look boy, you're going to hear some words at West Ham you shouldn't really hear. You make sure that whatever you hear at football stays in the stadium. If I hear you repeating it at school or in front of your mum you can forget about coming over here in the future'.

Now you seem to get dads or whatever getting all upity about it. Going to West Ham was and always should be about a boys day out. If you don't want to hear swearing but still want to visit the olympic stadium fuck off and wait til summer and watch the athletics.

Northern, how was your mate getting home for it to take 2.5 hours, were they walking home.

Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
My worry is that if our club decide to take a cup seriously and get in a final a fucking 1 season th could get a ticket in front of me, because this lot couldn't organise a lottery, especially employing an arsenal supporter doing it!

Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
I know of a couple that support other teams... one good mate is Scouse... in his defence his 2 boys are WHU... saying that by what he was saying after mid week I'm not sure any of them are going back... left early and still took them 2.5 hours to get home to Southend

Scorch - these "tourists" generally buy the cheaper band tickets - so unlikely to be in east upper - certainly the ones I know of anyway

Bumped into an old mate last night . Not seen him for 4/5 years and he asked me if I had a season ticket to the new stadium.

No

I've got one:

He is an Everton supporter with the accent to match.

El Scorchio 9:41 Sun Feb 5
Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
Pretty much everyone round where I sit (East Upper) are regulars and definitely West Ham. I honestly haven't seen many if any tourist fans at all. Or at least none that stick out as non West Ham.

Not sure if I believe all the stories about Arsenal/Liverpool/Man U mates with tickets on here. If it were all true there'd be thousands of the fuckers! Also most of them must have been given the opportunity to buy their tickets by West Ham fans, which is just weird.

Oh well, I don't notice them anyway so it doesn't spoil my enjoyment (or otherwise!) of the games.

Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
I would be amazed if anyone that wants a season ticket couldn't get one next season.

If the 50,000 supposedly on the waiting list, I'd be surprised if any more than 30,000 ever had any intention of buying a ST given the chance. Of those 30,000, no more than half will be proper fans, and considering what's happened this year the other half would no longer want to part with their cash. That leaves circa 15,000 genuine fans who will want a ST.

If the 45,000 current ST holders we've got, a good 15,000 will be tourists that will definitely not renew.

I'd actually be surprised if they sell out the ST allocation next year.

On Wednesday there was a bloke three rows behind me that hadn't been before. He was having a great time constantly screaming "fuck off you melts" at the City fans, then calling the West Ham fans around him plastics and "only there on freebies" because they weren't joining in with him being a proper fackin' fan.

He left on 65 minutes because West Ham weren't winning.

Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
Chim, we had a similar thing where I sit. There's a good bunch of people around but we has some bloke and his kid sitting a couple of rows in front of us for one game. The bloke in front me stood up and shouted 'for fucks sake' at the ref.

The bloke with his kid stood up and started shouting at the bloke about how his language was ruining the day. The bloke apologised but the other bloke getting going on and on about and then pointed at his son and said ' look what your language has done , you've made him cry' oblivious to the fact that his kid was crying not because of the swearing but because he'd made such a big issue out of it.

With that , the bloke stormed off never to be seen again.i don't know what some of these idiots expect , it's a football match and if his 12 year old kid has never heard someone say fuck before good knows where he goes to school.

The next game the bloke who swore , swore again , looked around at my 12 year old and apologied. My boy said,'don't worry mate I've heard my dad say a lot worse than that'.

Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
I was grabbing a beer behind the BML by the big screens..... 2 lads behind me.

"Oh it's a nice stadium isn't it, very impressive"
"Yeah it's not bad, you're stadium will be good when it's built....."

Turned around and asked if he was a yid, went all sheepish and his mate said sorry he has 2 season tickets and just wanted to bring his mate.

Luckily they sit up in the sky behind the BML. Block 147 gets a bit rowdy

Pretty clear the club have been issuing blocks of seats at The Boleyn. Just doing it now on a bigger scale, added to all the Trade In seats too.

Re: 'Tourist' season ticket holders
Last season I was in the towards the back of the main stand, Bobby Moore end. Two hole rows directly behind me had different groups of foreign tourists every game.
Every now and then you'd get a Hammers fan amongst the group but mostly were they were still tourists. Quite a few were Scandinavian but not all the time. One was openly supporting Chelsea when we played them. We certainly enjoyed making him welcome when we beat them.
